I remember reading in the newspaper a while back that the real George Steinbrenner had filmed a cameo where he fires George (Costanza) and that it would be in the season finale. Well, needless to say it wasn't in the finale. Are they saving this scene for next season? Did the writers change their mind about having George no longer work for the Yankees? Or is Steinbrenner such a bad actor that it was unusable? Personally, I hope he does get canned from the Yanks early next season. Since all indications point to this season being the last, it would be great to see a single and unemployed George once again trying to get jobs and dates with a web of lies. Those make for the best episodes, I think. Why not go out with a bang. So anyway, does anybody know what the deal was with the Steinbrenner thing? Thanks.
Will George be Fired?
One story said the producers were ticked that the Stein spilled the beans about the storyline, so cut him for spite. The official NBC line was that the show ran long, and something had to be cut. They've had a whole summer to rethink it. Who knows what they'll come up with?

There's something about that I can't understand though...You make an episode with a big name Guest star...It runs long...something has to be cut..so you cut out the Guest star part? I think NOT!
I hope not. the funny thing is that he got the job by a complete fluke and that no matter what he does, or how stupid his ideas are, he cannot get fired!
I have a feeling if he was fired, he would be rehired - who's going to get calzone for George S?
When the Yankees choke the East to Baltimore, Steinbrenner orders a full scale house cleaning. Unfortunately, George Costanza does not survive Steinbrenner's hit list. BUT, there is hope for George. The football power house New York J-E-T-S, J-E-T-S, JETS! hire George.
He's perfect for this (dis) organization.

Im not sure that he would not be too good for the Jets. Actually I think part of what makes the Yankees a good job is the steinbrenner character. No such person on the Jets.

No need for LD; George S. plays himself in at least one new episode--maybe he'll become a regular.
Like I said before, I hope he does get fired because I think the funniest episodes ever revolve around George trying to get jobs and women by spinning a giant web of lies, and then getting tangled in it(The whole Vandaley Industries thing is a good example). There just wasn't enough lying last season. He couldn't even think of anything to get out of dinner with J. Pederman. A now single George is a step in the right direction, but making him unemployed as well would make this coming season (possibly the last) classic, and they could really go out with a bang. But that's just me.
