Vintage Seinfeld, in the same vein (no pun intended) as the contest...Believe you me, I've decided that it is no good watching the show with my mother. Talk about awkward. How do you explain what Jerry and George were talking about at the beginning of the show in the diner to your mother??? Sure, I know I wasn't a virgin birth, but I reserve the right not to have to think about sex and my mother at the same time...

	whew.....

p.s. Did anyone else notice a (not so) subtle arrogance in the Playboy interview? It rubbed me the wrong way, although I'm not quite sure what I expected...

For what it's worth, I too was a bit nervous sitting through this one, having known what was to be expected as subject matter. But, for once, my mom surprised me to no end. Almost tearing, she laughed at everything before I could react.

I guess the humor is univeral.....

So I'll just have to wait till next week when mom yells "John, SEINFIELD is on"......... She never gets the name right.

John.

Ya... I know where you're coming from. It seems like everyone over the age of 45 that I know (ie. my parents, their friends, my aunt and uncle) call the show SeinFIELD. Bugs me to no end. I take comfort in the fact that at least they watch the show and like it.

Hey, Sonny -

I'm 52 and was watching and liking SeinFELD when Merve Griffin used to have him on, almost as a "pity guest". Jerry was incredibly young then and honing his act in the Borscht Belt (sp?) and was *somewhat* funny, definitely likeable, but he certainly wasn't anywhere near ready for the big time, and I always wondered why Merve was so nice to him. Jerry hadn't been on Carson back then. His considerable experience since then shows up on the sitcom, although he'll never win an Oscar for acting.

<Flame Suit On:> This message is intended to wake up you guys (generic term) who think that you discovered Seinfeld. How old were you when Jerry was guesting on Merve? I mean it's really patronizing of you to take comfort in the fact that we old folks like the same shows that you do.

Oh, yeah, and another thing. I don't think that you should be *too* embarrassed when watching The Sein with the older folks. You'd be astonished at how many of us not only enjoy an active sex life, but the sex is of the musky, down and dirty, long-lasting, sweaty, multi- orgasmic type, obviously something not experienced or even known to exist by either Jerry or George (and so by extension you and your peers), since they don't have a clue as to what's going on "below the equator." <Flame Suit Off>

It's not the generic idea of older folks as the specific idea of my parents which causes the discomfort. Intellectually, I know that my parents must have had sex at least twice (once for me and once for my brothers), but that doesn't mean that I like to think about it. Of course far more uncomfortable than watching the season opener with my parents was watching the season opener with my parents and my girlfriend.

By the way, I personally make no claim to having discovered Seinfeld the comedian. I am, however, one of the few that watched the pilot and the early shows. I missed the second season for lack of a TV set, but I was back on board shortly thereafter.

Can't we all just get along? So the older folks call it SeinFILD(or whatever), Howard Stern sarcastically calls it STeinfeld...No big woop! We all still tune in and/or tape it every Thursday at 9pm...

Couldn't have said it better myself, Suzanne. I wanted to reply to the "little fella" when he first posted. In case he still doesn't "get it", this group isn't only for the 12 year-olds who choose up sides and go down to the clubhouse for secret handshakes.

Sorry "sonny", but the over fifty-something folks are on the net and not going away. Live with it! LORETTA METCALF, CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, CHICO [email]

Jesus!!! If I could forsee the backlash from that comment, I surely wouldn't have posted! I was in no way hacking down everyone over the age of 45! All I was saying is that my parents, my aunt and uncle and their friends all call the show "SeinFIELD" and it bugs me!! If your name was George and people call you Eugene, would that bother YOU? I just like people to get names right, that's all. I am in no way, I repeat, NO WAY, hacking down middle aged people. I happen to know several middle aged people who frequent the internet and local bulletin boards and enjoy conversing with them.

BTW, I personally do not like being called "Sonny".... Save it for Mr. Bono.

OH, YEAH!

Well, I'm 104 and I'm the doctor who delivered Jerry (yeah, and I delivered Merv, too, yeah, and he was as big as a house, yeah, and I'm married to... Morgan Fairchild, yeah, that's the ticket) and when Jerry popped out a strange thing happened, he spoke! And he said, Whooo are THESE people??" Yeah, the kid was funny, even then. But then he didn't say another word for 40 years.

Well Suzanne, I may be only 20, but I'm a die-hard Seinfeld fan and *yes* when I was 14 years old, I used to watch his stand-up schtick out in the Catskills in Kutscher's Country Club WITH MY MOM. He was hilarious then, and continues to top himself each and every day.

In addition, my parents ADORE the show and watch it every week.

Hey, Jason - That's more like it. Regards to you and your parents. Suzanne
