My friend says it should have ended like this....

He was expecting a Guilty verdict, but then the punishment would provide some type of quirky 'Seinfeldian' twist either ironically benefitting them or ironically punishing them (like Jerry doing community service at the Post Office with Newman as his boss or something)

haha same exact idea I had.... and i thought the show was good for a finale. Im *hoping* it will be back in a year but doubt it... now what will i do with my life...

I thought that they were going to be guilty and then the defense was going to appeal and the judge would make the charges lower.. ala the massachussetts louise woodward trial.

My mother (of all people) came up with a brilliant ending in my opinion. She thought they should have faded to black with the four of them in the jail cell, and when the lights came back up Bob Newhart would be in bed with Suzanne Pleshette (the bed from the old Bob Newhart set.) He would tell her that he had a terrible nightmare. She asked what it was about, and after a pause he replies "nothing."

This would have been a spoof of the "Newhart" ending, for those who don't know.

Of course, if they had to become butlers for someone....that would have been pretty funny because of the tie-in to the origianal episode of "Jerry!"
