a few questions/comments about the episode with the jacket

How much do you think he paid for the jacket? Has anybody ever seen a jacket like this (with a pink striped lining) or was the lining sewn into the jacket just to help the plot of the story? Also,upon seeing Jerry wearing the jacket, George says " and I say this with an unblemished record of heterosexuality, you look fabulous! " . Did this episode take place after the episode where George was getting a massage from a man and "it moved" ? If it did then George doesn't really have "an unblemished record of heterosexuality" right?

I think that episode was based on a true story, wasn't it? In any event, I do have a spring jacket that has a striped lining. It's not pink, but it is white, green, and salmon colored (nearly pink!). I'd feel pretty stupid wearing it inside out; however, it's not leather so I don't have to worry. :-)

Didn't he pay $1200 for the Jacket? That's what I thought it was. In responce to the question about George's heterosexuality, "The Jacket" was only episode 8.

I just saw that episode last week and don't recall their being a price mentioned. Crap, Had I seen this thread last week I would have paid more attention. But I really don't think Jerry ever mentioned a number. George was making guesses, but Jerry just looked at him with a smirk on his face. Oh, and I'd be willing to bet that the lining was specially sewn in for comic effect.

He never *did* confirm the price of the jacket, but I would venture to say that if he purchased it from a "froo froo" store like that, it would be over $1000.

Now, on the question of whether a jacket like that would actually have a pink/white striped lining, don't discount the possibility. If you've ever been to Korea where many leather jackets come from, you'd see a lot of jackets like that. Some jackets have linings you wouldn't believe -- loud colors, comic strips, global maps, etc.

Thankfully, if you buy one custom made, you can get whatever you want done to it. I had them change the lining on mine, add an inside pocket for my checkbook, and add a button on a side pocket. They can do anything there!
