I was surprised not to read anything about the awards here. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that Seinfeld won for best comedy ensemble and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss won for best female actor in a comedy series. I was so happy to see them win. It was really great to see them onstage together being acknowledged and Jerry was in a terrific mood. He said that they really wanted to win the award and were so happy they did. If you didn't see the show, the opening had Dennis Hopper saying, "My name is Dennis Hopper and I'm an actor...he said that sentence a couple of times in his monologue." Well, when Jerry went up on stage to accept the award, he says "My Name is Jerry Seinfeld and I'm a bad actor" The audience was screaming with delight! He then went on to say it again and said, but what I've done is surround myself with three of the most talented (I can't exactly remember how he said it, but you get the idea). The audience was cheering and clapping. It was a great moment.
Has Michael Richards ever won an award for Kramer? I don't remember him ever winning something that I saw on TV. And, I was kind of hoping that he would since he's nominated all the time. Anyway, John Lithgow won for best actor in a comedy series and he acknowledged in his speech everyone who was up against him. It was a great speech. Anyway when he got to Michael Richards, he said something like, "And, in my opinion Michael Richards is the funniest man on TV, in fact he's the reason why I decided to take this role, in fact everything I've done in my role is based on what he's done." Everyone was clapping and Richards was smiling and the camera panned on him really close.
