Seinfeld finale will draw bigger audience than Cheers finale (55 million viewers).
Fans predict whether the Seinfeld finale will draw a larger audience than the Cheers finale, with most believing Seinfeld will exceed Cheers' viewership and possibly approach M*A*S*H's record.
I'm wondering if this will be a bigger finale than the Cheers finale? So far it seems like NBC keeps losing the good shows. I think they will have to find something else that's good to replace it or people won't be watching NBC on Thursdays.

Cheers brought in like 55 million viewers. I think the finale will draw a bigger audience than that (probably 56-58 million). NBC is definately gonna milk the final one up because this one is during the all important May Sweeps and a Seinfeld blockbuster practically guarantees that NBC stays at #1
I don't think its possible, but it would be really great if Seinfeld beat M*A*S*H's record as Most Watched Series Finale. Oh yeah, it'll definately beat out Cheers, no doubt about it.

Sorry guys, I am a very big Seinfeld fan, but bigger than cheers? Cheers is without a doubt the best show ever shown on TV. Frasier who is a spinoff of Cheers has won best comedy 4 years in a row. Call me back when Kramer, Elaine or George have their own show! And I use my exclamation points very carefully!
Now....you got your own opinion about Cheers and Seinfeld. But what does Cheers being "better" than Seinfeld have to do with Seinfeld being a bigger finale. You say that Cheers is the best show ever on T.V., yet, it still couldn't beat M*A*S*H as the most watched episode ever.

At least as big. Seinfeld was a very enjoyable TV show we watched, laughing at the misadventures of the bumbling and the exasperation of Jerry. "Cheers" was like a family. Both great shows, and can't be compared. NBC has got some killer shows -- let's hope they don't let any more of them get away. Frazier, 3rd Rock are pretty funny. Just Shoot Me has potential, and I kind of enjoy it. Which is much more than I can say for that dreck on Fox, especially "Ask Harriet." Most of those shows don't even cause a flex in my stomach muscle to indicate a laugh or chuckle might be forthcoming. It's so bad that there is no reaction at all. At least if it was *bad* I would get up and turn off the TV.
Two television "experts" on MSNBC both predicted that the Seinfeld finale would top the Cheers finale, but not the M*A*S*H finale.
You know how Seinfeld could make his finale bigger than M*A*S*H, have Jerry take Seinfeld out of syndication. Then it would be a bigger hype than ever. "Not only is this the final Seinfeld episode ever, this is your only chance to see the final Seinfeld". Sure its not gonna happen, but that's what he could do.

Yeah right. Do you actually think Seinfeld will top M*A*S*H's record of 66 million viewers? Yer nutz. It'll beat Cheers out and will probably get 57-58 million viewers, but it won't beat M*A*S*H, that's near impossible. Unless Jerry takes Seinfeld out of syndication.....

If there's enough hype, and if there's nothing else good on at the time, I don't see why there can't be 80 million people watching.
One thing that will help is that most other networks wouldn't be stupid enough to schedule first run stuff against this particular time slot on this particular day. i think all of the other major networks will lie down for a half hour, making the possibility of a record audience that much more possible.

Well, ya gotta know that not everyone cares about Seinfeld (I know a lot of people like that.) Not even a media hype will change their minds. There are 32 million who watch the show regularly and there are a lot of people who don't watch the show regularly but like it and will tune in for the final episode and then there are those bandwagon people. So maybe it'll reach as high as 62 million, but not higher than that.
Yeah it would be suicide to put anything up against Seinfeld's ending. But hey, ABC put up Murder One against ER and knew that it would be suicide so you never know.

DRAMA: Playhouse 90 and other 1950's-60's dramatic series that gave us classics such as "Requiem for a Heavyweight" and "Marty"
DOCUMENTARY: CBS Reports (including, e.g., "Harvest of Shame" w/ Edward R. Murrow)
COMEDY (in no particular order): Your Show of Shows (Sid Caesar; writers: Neil Simon, Mel Brooks, et. al.) The Honeymooners I Love Lucy All in the Family (which, BTW, had at least two successful spinoffs) Saturday Night Live (1970's seasons)
This is just a small sample of the competition for "best show ever shown", and it doesn't even include mini-series (e.g., "Roots", "I, Claudius"), specials, cable programs, etc. Do you really believe that "Cheers" is better than all of the above-listed "shows"?

That's an opinion. The facts are that Seinfeld is the most succesful comedy show in television history.Cheers and Frasier are both superb shows,but Seinfeld is in a class of it's own.The Master of It's Domain,so to speak...
