Fairly obscure one this but definitely something peculiar - is Russell Dalrimple aware that Jerry and George know Elaine? Has she discussed the pilot with him? Apparently yes and no to both questions.
At the start of The Shoes Elaine finds she does not appear in the pilot that George and Jerry are writing. Then the show gets dropped. Later in a bid to get it picked up again, Elaine impresses Russell with her cleavage and consequently gets a date with him. Jerry tells her, if, on the date Russell mentions the pilot, "You'll of course tell him how much you liked it". And Elaine starts making suggestions involving the Elaine character to which George and Jerry seem receptive. Then in The Pilot (the episode) the Elaine character appears. All makes perfect sense.
Except that earlier in the Pilot, Russell has told Elaine, when she criticises NBC, about this great new show they've got featuring a new comedian called Jerry Seinfeld (Elaine: "Oh yeah I've heard of him...", Russell "In fact he was in the restaurant that day that we met. Anyway it's a ground-breaking show", Elaine - "Really? What is it about?")
Therefore The Shoes suggests Russell was well aware all three were together in the restaurant and The Pilot suggests he thought their being there was a coincidence. The Shoes suggests Elaine influenced Russel toward the inclusion of her character in the pilot. The Pilot suggests she didn't.
