Mad About You & Seinfeld

I just happened to watch the Tonight Show a few days ago. On it was Paul Reiser (sp?) from MAY. Now the thing that struck me was that his humor was very close that of Jerry/the Seinfeld show. Is this a known debated fact? I have never seen MAY as it is not shown in Norway.
