Last night's show drew home a thesis that's been bubbling in my head for a while. Most Seinfeld shows (about 85%) fall into one of two catagories: 1. The mundain (such as "The parking garage.) 2. The surreal (such as Bizzaro Jerry.) Last night was the surreal. It mixed a couple of subplots. Newmens's undelivered mail. Elaine's putdown boyfriend, and kramer acting like a dog bec because he took dog medicine. Parts of the show worked & parts didn't. JLD is a talented actress but she couldn't carry the attitude that would make the "big head" jibe plausible. To a degree the concept (just like the episode about the medical report) wasn't wasn't sufficiently rooted in reality. Ironic as it may seem this is a requirement of sucessful surreal humor.

The unsuccessful surreal stuff seems more a product of this season. The writers just aren't being as clever.
In case you haven't heard, Larry David has left the show this season.. That might explain the quality of the writing..
