It's a fact we're all Seinfeld fans here... but we still have a sense of criticism... what episode did YOU hate?
Mine is "The Airport"... man, that's a dull episode... The first time I watched it, I thought: "that's clever...". The second time... YUCK!

The "Jerry Cries" episode was pretty lame too.
No episode was ever lame, some were more brilliant than others, but the so called 'worst' episodes are still good.

I have to disagree. The "jerk store" line is one of my favorite George moments, especially when he delivers it in Ohio.
I don't recall the name of the episode (perhaps its "The Enzo") but the episode where Jerry gets the bad haircut is the only episode that I ALWAYS fast forward through when watching old seinfeld tapes.

I think you people do not like Seinfeld and do not understand comedy, certainly you understand some types or otherwise you wouldn't be in the Seinfeld newsgroup. It's one of the true pieces of comedy you can find - actually I would like to know what Season it's from so I can check it out again.
The so-called 'unrealism' of the episode is what makes it so funny, and it is a comedy after all. Would you have found it funnier if Jerry had just got a bad haircut, went to get it fixed, and the barber was not so obsessed? Of course not.

You've made that claim several times now. However, it's quite possible for people to like Seinfeld and understand comedy yet still have episodes they don't enjoy as much, or at all. Personal preference, not an inability to understand comedy.

The ' unrealism' is not what made that episode funny. It was the goofy suspense, and laughable style of acting. What made it interesting was that is was a parody of a theme thats been done before.

You missed the point. Although it's one of my favorite episodes, It's a goofy copy of a theme that has been done before.

What sort of person tapes Seinfeld and then fast forwards through an episode? I prefer the rewind button when watching Seinfeld, and one scene in particular with Kramer , a chocolate bar and some guy selling glasses who 'owes him one'.

Another awesome episode - who doesn't want to go behind their friends back and watch a movie without telling them? They did, and that's what made this episode so damn funny. The reason being of course that Elaine was looking after some dog that was owned by a guy that none of them knew!

Common sense hit and it was way too frustrating cause that is something I would get suckered into doing, and that damn fake barking and completely annoying drunken old fart of an owner...too much
Jerry wasn't suckered into caring for the dog, he was put in an awkward social situation and reacted the way most people would. His seatmate had a medical problem and there was nobody who could care for the dog, so Jerry had to step up. The plot followed a theme that permeated Seinfeld from episode one.
If you hated Gavin Palone, the "drunken old fart", then at least give the actor and writers credit, you're *supposed* to dislike him.

My favourite Season used to be Season 8, but now I rate that second. I think Season 3, 4 and 5 contain the 'best' episodes, perhaps because the characters are so familiar with the audience by then.
As far as Season 1 and 2 goes, they must have been pretty good for the show to be on air for all the episodes that come after that, right?

True. If I had to pick a least favorite, I'd pick the first one. The characters were not fleshed out, Elaine wasn't a member of the group, George was merely a Woody Allen impression, Jerry and Kramer were still essentially strangers, the episode did not flow like most of the 179 that followed did.

There were only two things that kept this episode busy if I'm not wrong. So that is very low for a normal episode.

Magazine ratings are garbage. Of course the episodes that received critical acclaim are the ones they rank higher.
It's analogous to thinking a musical group's best stuff is what made it to the top of the charts and received lots of airplay, when really their best stuff is often buried on B sides of their albums and nobody but their real fans are familiar with it.

Disappointing lists. I don't think I watched the backwards episode (marriage in India) even once. It seems to me to be written to prove that "I can do this". I also hate the smelly car episode. It is just not credible, and, at some level, offensive.
And there are some very good episodes in those lists. Eg, The Bris.
Err, don't take this personally, but if you've never actually seen the episode, how can your opinion about it matter?
It was a break from the standard sitcom mold. It was inventive and creative, it was a landmark episode AFAIC.
At some level, every episode is offensive.

I can't agree with the Shoes at all. I think it's an excellent episode. The whole thing about women being obsessed with shoes on a whole other level rings very true. I can recall shortly after seeing that a (female) friend of mine bitching on a night out because another girl had told her she had a pair of shoes the same as hers. Even after extreme interrogation she never managed to convince me that the other girl had done anything wrong.
i agree that this ep does not belong on a worst list. i also think there was much discussion about her shoes in the real world at the time and this was a nice way to answer it.
