To all of you who have seen last thursday's show, most of you are probably baffled as to why she didn't eat the pie.

You should have noticed that the other other events of not-eating- desert in the show revolved around the reason that there was something wrong with the food. As you'll recall, Jerry didn't eat the pizza because Poppie made it with sloppy dirty hands. George didn't eat the cake because he suspected that the fat chef guy (from whom he stole the suit) had done something to the food to get back at him as he had promised.

So here's what I think why the girlfriend didn't eat the pie and it's as simple as that: She saw a hair in it.

Gee, a hair pie? :-)

No, I think it was because Jerry kept dipping his dirty fork back into it for another taste. "Um (slober slober), this pie is great, try some!" No thank you. -- PSH --

Concur. I thought that at the time.

Good deduction... talk about retroactive comedy... I would have never made that connection...

I still stand by my original deduction. Jerry took a bite before offering her a bite, and was then getting ready to 'double dip' his fork into the pie. She didn't think this was sanitary, so she refused to eat any pie. It is then very ironic that her father didn't wash his hands after using the bathroom. If she saw a hair in the pie, she would not have gone back to the same restaurant a few days later and ordered pie.

Well someone else mentionned that the idea of her being disgusted by the double dipping would be a little weird since they DO share saliva when kissing, since that is what a dating couple does. But your point about her not going back after seeing a hair in the food is a good one. Maybe Kramer was lying when he said he saw her there! :)

Well, If she saw a hair I think she would have told Jerry; if it was drool-aversion she'd keep silent, don't you think?? -- PSH --

That's ridiculous. The waitress doesn't make the pie AND she doesn' touch it either.

I'm not real experienced in this newsgroup posting business, but is the poster of the above a complete jerk? Just wondering.

I wouldn't hold the poster of that message in the highest regard. I agree with you that the maturity level of that post was a bit low...even for the seinfeld discussion group.

Man, I feel so strange. First, I didn't enjoy the MB episode as much as most of y'all did, and then I enjoy this week's much more. Granted, there is no defending the "little people" storyline, but I'll still try to defend my opinion. Unlike the last couple of weeks, the writers avoided tying in all the subplots together with amazing coincidences. Also, Kramer didn't overdo it like he has been the past month. As for classic lines, I liked (pardon the paraphrasing):

  • "If you can't say something nice about a relationship, you shouldn't say anything at all." - George
  • "Eggs ARE eggs...On the same token, you could say fish is fish. I don't think so." - George
  • Of course, "It" "It" "Out" "Out".

So, mark me down for a thumbs-up. I laughed, and I refuse to feel guilty for

Except that it's 'bad' or similar. I realize you said you were paraphrasing, but that changes the reason that line was funny.

I think that was probably 'could you', otherwise it doesn't make sense with the next sentence.

This is not intended as a flame.

Of course it was bad. I must have been hazy in the head that morning.

"Could you" makes semantical sense, but I'm still not sure which.

Maybe she was just full from her own food or she didn't want Jerry to think she was a pig eating dessert.

Maybe the reason why she didn't eat the pie was because she saw an employee of the restaurant in the restroom that didn't wash her hands after she went to the bathroom, and this employee is known to handle the pies.

In other words, maybe she went through the same thing in the women's restroom that Jerry went through in the men's. You know, when he saw the owner/head cook come out of the stall and not wash his hands.

That's what I propose.

To my understanding, just prior to desert, she said, "I've had just enough." or some such phrase. Therefore, eating the pie would disturb her perfect eating equilibrium. Jerry was almost calious in offering her a piece.
