Slightly OT: Raymond

I saw a report about the Golden Globes this morning, I think it was on Cold Pizza on ESPN.

Anyway - they mentioned how Everyobody Loves Raymond has had little attention by the Foreign Press. The story pointed out that Raymond is really nothing special, just a family sitcom. As such it has been largely ignored by the Golden Globes.

I have heard reporters call Raymond EDGY. That makes me gag. I see that show as a one-trick pony, and they repeat the same thing over and over. King of Queens is much more creative, even with regard to offbeat camera angles and editing.

I guess what I'm getting at is that Raymond never did it for me. I've only tried to watch a few times, and am always annoyed by how much his wife seems to hate him and how little he seems to care. And why bother having kids, are they ever in it? that is kind of annoying too.

I can't believe Ray gets two mil an episode. There is a Seinfeld that sort of makes fun of the Raymond brand of show, the one where Kramer and Mickey are stand-ins I think. It surprises me that Jerry or Larry David would be friends with someone making a show as pedestrian as Raymond. Are they friends?

So Serious-Seinfeld-People - how do YOU feel about Raymond????

Well, by comparison to other sitcoms on, it's not that bad. It used to be better until they made Debra a complete bitch. Karen It's Kramer's world, we just pay rent
