I was thinking about it the other day, and I found out; George isn't really that much of a failure that he thinks he is. I just think he's being paranoid as always. Let's just think about it for a second.
He's had some great jobs. He worked for the Yankees, one of America's greatest baseball teams. He managed to get the hardest job in the univers, where he would get paid for doing practically nothing. He actually tried to get himself fired once, but the managers just wouldn't let him go.
He's always complaining about him being short, balled and stocky, yet he always manages to get dates with the most beautiful women. One of these actually wanted to spend the rest of her life with this short, balled and stocky man. Ironically, that desire was literally put away because George showed who really was in charge here. He also got a date with Marisa Tomei, one of the world's most beautiful women. Once he was dating a woman who refused to break up with him, much like the same way he tried to get himself fired. He went ahead and got himself an additional girlfriend in the hope that she would break up with him when she accidentally "figured it all out". Of course she refused to break up with him too, and he eventually got stuck with two women refusing to let him go.
Let's not forget that he also co-wrote the pilot and that he would have been responsible for one of the most successful and certainly the best sit-coms in TV-history, if it wasn't for a certain plane-trip and the good-samaritan-law.
He also managed to make up a plan for doing the impossible switcharoo, which is quite a mile-stone in his biography.
If look away from the fact that he lived with his parents for quite a while, I'd say George was one of the most successful of the 4 guys. Jerry was just a lousy commedian playing at night-clubs, Kramer didn't really have a career at all, and Elaine, well... she was a woman, and that's the main reason she got all those jobs. George was a killer at job- and appartment-interviews. If it wasn't for the fact that he never had the luck on his side, he would come out a great and successful man.
What other proves do we have that George actually was the gold of the bunch, the cream og the crop, the... I don't know.
