Can anyone explain the difference between the regions of DVD's, from what i can gather Region 1 is N. America, 3 is Europe, is this correct ? and how difficult would it be to make it all the same, and is there a region 2?

In the USA, due to TV differences, you'll need to buy a more expensive machine that can handle all conversions etc. Not looked in to it recently but that was the case some time ago and I assume it's the same now.

There is a DVD player that Best Buy has right now, Cyberhome made by Argus. (Forget exact model #, but it is a '500')

It is readily/easily hackable to play ALL regions 0-6. I saw no option for 7 or 8.

When the player is at STOP, punch in 1999 from the remote. A menu comes up to change regions. That option stays all the time. To have it deactivate the Macrovision, I understand you modify the output from NTSC to PAL and back (from whichever format you started) and it is 'reset'.

Unfortunately you must 'reset' the macrovision every time...so I am told

For the $...including the rebate, I have NO complaints. A friend bought 4 of them !
