That reference only proves that Frank Costanza, not George Costanza, is Catholic. If a Catholic marries a Jew, it doesn't mean everyone in the family becomes Catholic.

Knights of Columbus membership only proves that Frank Costanza is Catholic. The writers purposely don't explicitly state the religion of George or his mother so that we will continue to dwell on this thread.

Correct, assuming that Knights of Columbus only accept those who claim to be Catholic. (I don't know anything about the Knights of Columbus.) George could be Jewish if he converted from whatever he was to Judaism. So, even if neither of George's parents are Jewish, he could be. On the other hand, if George's parents were BORN Jewish, then George is Jewish no matter what, even if Frank Costanza now claims he is Catholic. BTW, I do not profess to know whether any of the characters are Jewish. I don't really care, but I thought you people discussing this thing are usually going about it the wrong way, making conclusions from "clues" that you cannot validly make.

Just because some people (not I) refer to Jews as a race (some of my Jewish friends included), and just because I use their word to describe them, does not make me anti-semitic.

Try "people." We Jews are a people, and among us are members of all racial groups. The Orthodox rabbis will consider you a Jew if your mother was one (either because hers was, or because she converted before you were born), or if you converted. Non-orthodox rabbis often use looser criteria.

But just as you don't need to be Jewish to love Levy's rye, you don't need to love Levy's rye to be Jewish...

No, it could have something to do with the fact that it is an accepted usage of the word according to my sources, which include a 1996 college dictionary and Jewish friends.

Ok, lets look at all the clues (I just came from the alt.conspiracy.jfk NG so excuse my rigour).

(a) When Jerry and Elaine stay over at Jerry's parents in Florida Jerry's mom says she always liked Elaine, refering I believe, to Jerry's dating her in the past. If you grew up with a Jewish mom you would KNOW Elaine has to be Jewish.

(b) Kramer asks Elaine if she will come to his Jewish singles night. Obviously Kramer knows Elaine better than we do so he naturally assumes she qualifies - hence she's Jewish.

Lets see - the JFK question has been open for 33 years perhaps this thread will live a lot longer than the show.

Has anyone else in this group posted the connection between Newman (is his real name Jack White) and the character Jack White plays in the JFK movie - it was quite a shock to hear Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) tell his assistant (Jack White) to got to the tv and "Make it louder, Newman "!!!! (In fact in the credits his name appears as a good old boy *Numa* , but it sure souns like Newman.

Also in that movie it was Jack White and another character that Jim Garrison (Kevin C.) uses to discredit the single bullet theory - the exact take-off used in Seinfeld.
