Fans discuss Larry David's film "Sour Grapes," sharing that it was a critical and commercial failure but remains difficult to find; one viewer found it somewhat funny despite its flaws.

Can anyone tell me about this film? I read that it was written by Larry David,and made post-Seinfeld. Supposedly it is quite offensive, so I would love to see it.

Is it available on video in the UK?

It was made after David left Seinfeld, but before the show went off the air. It was a critical and commercial bomb...but not having seen it, I can't tell you if it was a stinker or a misunderstood gem. Haven't seen it in the video stores...and I've been looking, since it never made it into wide theatrical release beyond the top 5 or 10 markets, and even there it wasn't around more than a couple of weeks. You're not alone in being curious about it. I'm not aware of it even making the cable networks yet. Has anyone actually seen it?

I saw it when it was out, and thought it was quite funny. Not the best movie by any means, but definately worth renting. The plot revolves around two friends (brothers maybe, I forget) who go to Las Vegas. One lends the other a quarter to play a slot machine, and then wins the big jackpot. The rest of the movie is people arguing if he owes the guy nothing, 25 cents, or half the jackpot. There are some very funny moments as I recall, but nothing that stands out. Hope this helps.

Sour Grapes has been available on video for two or three months.

My comment when I saw it: "Hope Larry David saved some of his Seinfeld money."

Actually they were cousins I believe, but the movie stunk either way, about an hour into it I got out of my chair, went to the bathroom, in their I stalled (no pun intended) until the movie finally ended...

I thought it was ok. I liked the part when an old white couple were being questioned by a black detective about a suspect in a robbery. The suspect was black but the couple were'nt sure if they could use the word "black" or "afro" to decribe the man. " Our we allowed to say afro?"
