These are just random thoughts with no real order. Forgive me if they are for the majority not praises of the finale. It's all just my opinion and I'm not asking anyone to agree with it, I guess I'm trying to vent my frustration at what I thought was a poor show. Comments appreciated at [email]
I had the urge to channel surf in the middle of the show. The whole premise of NBC offering a trip to anywhere as a *signing bonus* was stupid. The show got off on the wrong foot with exaggerated animosity between Elaine and George. A better way for Kramer to have caused the plane to go down would have been for him to have another Mary Hart seizure. During the final credits, I enjoyed the irony of Kramer laughing at Jerry's jokes, when for the past few seasons, Kramer has consistently told Jerry that his stand up career was basically dead (he should opt for the bloomingdales exec program). What was up with the fab four having basically no part in the majority of the courtroom scenes? I enjoyed Babu and a few other cameos of past guests, but they really stretched it out too far, making it *just another clip/highlight show*. Sure it was dark like the old Larry David, but it seemed to be dark without a funny side to it. I liked the initial storyline of NBC picking up the "Jerry" show, it seemed to have a good start, but once we saw the scene in the prosecuting attorney's office about finding all the dirt on the foursome, the entire plot was revealed, how many of you knew at that point (as I did) exactly how the plot would turn out? That, I think, was the most disappointing part, knowing how it was all going to turn out that early into the show. It was by far, not the best episode, I really expected much much more with the return of Larry David. There was no real plot development, I think a much better ending would have been for the plane to go down in the Atlantic, the foursome end up on some remote island (even though I don't think there are many islands in the Atlantic) and then end up living the rest of their days there. Incidentally, I think George and Jerry would have ended up being gay lovers and Kramer and Elaine would end up lovers as well, only because Kramer's the only one who had a vasectomy. Let's see, what else . . . I wish Puddy had more of a role than just courtroom observer. What happened with Susan's father buying a gun? What was the whole purpose of even showing that scene? I think what I was most disappointed about was a lack of the people we really wanted. Those people being Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer. They just sat there in the courtroom and made a few wisecracks. My one ray of light is the (hopefully) prolific line that they'll be back/out in a year. Please come back in a year and give us a real send off to the greatest sitcom in history. Just for the record, I've been a loyal Seinfeld fanatic for several years, I love the show and rarely have I been disappointed by an episode.
