I read earlier that for the Omaha shows CNN had a story stating that the promoter had given away 2,000 tickets. This is true. For whatever reason the shows did not sell out prior to the opening night. I assume that this is due to the ticket price of 60$ per, which is very unusual for this area. Interesting enough though Des Moines is only two hours east of Omaha and a 5th show had to be added. Can't tell what the difference is Des Moines is smaller in population. I think it is strange.
In any case, they gave away a total of 2000 tix to the 4 shows here to corporate execs, promotion people and such.
I am sure it is essentially the same show as will be on HBO. It was great. I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard. This guy impresses me more and more as time goes on. I love that instead of doing the traditional encore, he takes questions and answers with the audience. He is as good or better when given the chance to improvise.
In any case back to the original thing. The venue in Omaha was an old vaudville theater that seats a little over 2,500 I think. So a good portion of the tickets were given away. The performances were all filled to capacity though, so the people that got the free tickets certainly got a good show at a great price.
Interestingly he has been to Omaha twice before to smaller venues in 1990 and 1993 and didn't sell those out at much lower prices. It is amazing that they would choose a place that hasn't sold out before to hold the shows.
In any case I loved the show I am greatful I had a chance to see this routine before he replaces it with all new material (rumor i heard). Sorry I rambled.
