Fans discuss Seinfeld-inspired sitcoms, debating whether shows like Friends, Ellen, Sex and the City, and Everybody Loves Raymond are successful rip-offs or have merit on their own.
How many Seinfeld-inspired sit-coms are there out there, and are any of them any good?
Those in the UK that can get Sky One will know that David Baddiel (comic and author) has just started his own - Baddiel's Syndrome, and boy does it stink. Poor script, poor delvery, and appalling characters.
But, are there any decent ones that we should know about in the States?

Friends is a Seinfeld rip off. It has never been good IMO. I can't tell those pathetic looser guys apart They all blur into a homogeneous mass. Seinfeld had a tall one, a short one, and an average sized one. All the characters are distinct, memorable and mostly likeable in some sense or other. Not sure about Joe Davola, though.
I kinda like Friends (mostly because of Lisa Kudrow!!!) but it is a Seinfeld rip-off! So was Ellen (and I guess the "pink friend" was in the show from the beginnin).
Yet, if we think about it... aren't they all Monty Python rip-offs? :)

I am not sure about the 'rip-off' reference, but "sex and the city" is pretty funny and is often compared with "seinfeld". Also, "everybody loves raymond" is very funny and pretty close to "seinfeld" (a whiney lead surrounded by odd characters...)
