Is it just me or is Julia HOT

One of the few reasons I started watching Seinfled is because of Julia Louis- Dreyfus. Is she HOT or am I just blind. starman

she is definitely attractive. especially the episodes where she has straight hair...I wouldn't mind getting into a cat fight with her *growl*

Shes fine, but I'm not sure about hot. I started watching Seinfeld, because in the early stages I could sense it was not going to be your average comedy series.

I think she's very attractive--certainly so in the later seasons. In the early seasons it seems as if they almost tried to dull her down. She looked way too "old-fashioned" back then for the character Elaine--e.g. her hair style and those long, ugly dresses they typically had her in. It just did not look hip, hot, and 90's NY to me.

In the later seasons she took on much more of a "professional" and modern look it seems--which I much prefer. Her hair style greatly improved along with more flattering make-up and dress. (The little black CK number certainly comes to mind--the one she wore outside... :)

I don't know what the custom is in Finland (or in your imagination :-P ), but here in the US (and in the real world) the average woman doesn't wear sexy lingerie every night, especially when sleeping alone.

That look peaked out in the late 70s, early 80s as the "Annie Hall" look. The babushka hair style was some- thing unto itself, but the outfit was Diane Keaton.

The straight and then curly hair styles were the most flattering. She had that business look down in "Day By Day," a comedy series which ran one season in 88 -89. Her character, Eileen Swift, was sort of a less neurotic Elaine out of the city and obsessed about her job, IIRC.

I wouldn't worry. Although I take the point Stefan was making I don't think it has much validity in real life. On TV "funny" attractive women are often required to play roles that show them to be goofy, self-deprecating or disorganised - e.g. Rachel and Phoebe on friends, Daphne on Frasier, Brooke Shields in Suddenly Susan. In a Seinfeld context Elayne was perhaps funniest when she did her physical comedy bits like rolling around on the bed in Jerry's parents house, or snapping her leotard on herself and she certainly wasn't sexy then.

So yes if you're making the guy laugh by acting a ditz, getting falling-over drunk on 2 glasses of wine or talking about wacky your premonitions then it's probably time to change tack. :) But in RL speaking for myself, women who make me laugh do it by being witty and intelligent, even light-heartedly bitchy. And *that* in no way counts as a turn-off. The problem is not the humour itself but that it's often couched in circumstances where a woman shows herself to be lacking in self-confidence and know-how when perhaps the sexiest quality to find in a woman is a *lot* of self-confidence.

I should also say that the original rule does not apply to women writers in my experience. Helen Fielding, Carrie Fisher, Zoe Heller e.g. are all attractive women who can be hilarious on the page, largely because they don't have to belittle themselves to do so. So while in part Stefan is right, it's a rule with a hell of a lot of exceptions.
