In the episode where Jerry is contemplating stealing cable, he has a long dreanlike sequence about the conequences. He comes home, the cops are there, and he tries to run away. He gets shot and Kramer ends up holding hime and blabbering "Cable Boy, oh Cably Boy". Is this whole sequence a reference to a movie, perhaps a film-noir (sp?) movie? It seemed so out of place.

These scenes are from day one of the televisions. Hawaii 5-o etc.It is really a way of glorifying violence. They didn't have to shoot him he is not armed. " were just a pansy" Nonetheless Agent Stowe finished him!
This was a reference to Francis Ford Coppola's movie "The Outsiders". Mickey Rourke plays the rebel "Motorcycle Boy" who gets killed by gun fire from police. Matt Dillon plays his younger brother, who, on his death, holds him in his armsa and cries "Motorcycle Boy!".
This movie is actually "Rumble Fish", another S.E. Hinton novel (but I'm not sure if the movie is Coppola, is it?).
