I got a $200(aud) capture card and a $600(aud) dvd burner and got my vhs copies from fox and did some file size/quality testing. Figured out that i could burn them to dvd at really good quality only 10eps per disk and got going... Im no longer waiting for seinfeld on dvd.
And no im not trying to sell them.
im stoked with the quality. On a tv it looks as good as my VHS copies. On the PC you can see the compression more clearly but it shits over VCD. I used a Raidon 9000pro video card. some versions of this card dont have capture facilities but mine does. the settings i used to capture them were mpeg2 compression, constant bit rate of 2433 and mpeg audio 224 any quality sliders i found were on max quality. After editing the ads, the episodes were between 420mb and 480 each. I (we) made a simple menu and... Its go time. its taken us about 6 months from go to woh. Finished the last disk yesterday.
