"Seinfeld" the "Andy Griffeth Show" of the 90's?

Well, hell . . . I was starting to run out of other ideas, so I thought I'd just throw this out and see what came of it.

Has anyone ever considered the similarities between the two shows? Although "Andy" was small-town, it too always revolved around the little details of everyday life, those nothings that eventually spiraled into something.

Jerry = Andy Taylor Both men were the center of their universe. Everything else revolved around them. Both, in their own way, were usually responsible for restoring order to the lives of their family and friends.

George = Barney Fife Yep . . . nuff said.

Kramer = Gomer (or Goober, if you prefer) Works for me.

Elaine = Aunt Bee Uh . . . was Aunt Bee as free with her affections as Elaine?

Peterman = Floyd the barber Another beautiful match.

Who the hell is Opie supposed to be? Mickey? Puddy?

Now if we could somehow get past the fact that "Andy" was about a group of wacky yet considerate people who actually did care about each other and others, while "Seinfeld", well . . . we might just be on to something.

As a kid, I loved the Andy Griffith Show. As an adult, I love Seinfeld. Comparing the two, in my opinion, is quite a stretch. Andy was a single father living with his mother and son. I don't see any similarities in the characters or content. I think the only thing they have in common is success.

I would have loved to see a Dick Van Dyke episode of Seinfeld where the gang is too busy to hang out with Jerry and he falls asleep watching a Dick Van Dyke marathon on Nick at Nite.

He then has a dream where he is Dick Van Dyke, Elaine is Sally, George is Buddy, Newman is Mel Cooley, Kramer is Jerry Helper, Mulva is Laura and Morty Seinfeld is Alan Brady. It could have been a take off on the walnut episode.

As far as Home Improvement, how about a guest shot by Andy Griffith as Tim Taylor's Uncle Andy Taylor???
