Inconsistency in 'The Pitch'

In episode 43 - The Pitch George is trying to convince elaine to give Jerry's old girlfriend her shoes and he says something about it's for his mother because she's in the hospital. Elaine responds by saying something like "Oh yea, because she caught you" in reference to 'The contest' But this was episode #51, and didn't air until later in the 4th season, right?

Tell me.....am i missing something?

As far as I can remember, The episode about Elaine's shoes and was called "the Shoes", and was aired a few episodes later than the Contest. I can't recall any mention to shoes in the Pitch, but I might be wrong. hope this helps -josh gibney

Indeed Dr. The Shoes was episode 56!

Depends on which numbering system you use. The network's counts hour long episodes as two, Entertainment Weekly does not. He was using EW numbers.
