Jerry doing George's role?

I just caught the episode in which Jerry is forced to pirate a film and gets carried away by professional pride. Isn't that the sort of thing that normally happens to George instead? In fact, he's the one who did wind up getting arrested, after replacing Jerry. Wouldn't it have been not only more typical but funnier for George to have been the protagonist of that subplot all the way through... George the previously useless nerd-- and an easier fellow to bully around, by the way-- discovering and pursuing his talent as a video pirate? (Much like his brief flowering as a hand model...)
