The story of the finale

We all established that we don't want a show about something spectacular (like elaine/Jerry getting married, Babu killing off Jerry), but what will the final storyline be about? I'm leaning towards everything that they've ever dreamed of happens to them in the first 30 minutes and everything backfires in the final 30 minutes. Then in the closing minutes, they start talking about something trivial like moth balls (or whatever) and then it cuts to Jerry telling his last joke on stage and then finally says "Its been fun, you've been a great audience, good night". Its not going to be just a normal episode because Jerry said he wants the show to go out in "full blazing color"

Also, in the beginning theme song, will it have: 1. Jerry doing stand up comedy 2. The characters setting up the basic mood of the story (like it has been doing for the past two seasons or so) 3. A special beginning like in the 100th Episode

One other thing: Is the final episode going to be 1 hour 30 minutes (or 3 episodes) because I read something in the newspaper saying they had 10 episodes that will be building up into the "grand finale" and from what I'm hearing around this newsboard and everywhere else that there are 13 episodes left in the season.

Have you called Jerry and Larry with this yet? The logic is perfect and it ends off with a clear suggestion that while we won't see any more episodes, life will go on much as before for these clowns...hope and frustration continuing side by side week after week.

Also perfect...an acknowledgement to the TV audience for its support WITHOUT stepping out of character and getting sentimental the way they did at the end of Cosby.

However they do it, what the final episode should be is a magnified version of the kind of craziness they go through every week, ending the same way it always does---with them together sitting at Monk's trying (largely without success) to sort things out...then cut to the end of Jerry's routine and show him going off the club stage to applause, that's perfect.

Incidentally, they already must have had a couple first run episodes for January 1998 play in the can when Jerry made his decision to wrap the show in the spring, so the shows of the 8th and 15th won't be part of the story cycle leading up to the finale. We won't get much of a hint of where they're headed with this until close to the start of February sweeps ...there will probably be 12 more half-hours (10 of them a part of the final story arc) and then a big hour-long finale in the second half of May..

Message to Jerry...DON'T FOLLOW JULIA'S SUG- GESTION, DON'T KILL ANYBODY OFF! Unless you want your rerun business to die off...

Bob, your commentaries are well thought out and always entertaining. Wait until you see Robin Mirsky in "the mirskheads" which is already in the can-she starts a thread that takes us back to george and jerry's junior high and ironically miss mirsky went to the University of Maryland (watch for Jerry's joke about turtles being a mascot--too easy to steal, slow, roadkill, yada, yada, yada-the audience announce informed us that UofM's mascot is the Terrapin (or turtle)-wish i could get a tape of your show it must be a scream. btw do you know the main many who runs MONY's office in Rochester?? he's a good guy and made all the arrangements for bruce williams and i to do a seminar in rochester, which Bruce says is his favorite and largest audience

It would be great if they did Jerry doing stand up one last time, plus it goes along with your idea of it ending with Jerry telling his last joke and saying goodnight to the audience.

I think that Jerry will pull a Michael Jordan. He'll be back.
