Tonight was a 2 hour Seinfeld special. The first 45 minutes showed clips of classic Seinfeld moments. They even showed bloopers-the cast members laughing as they film their scenes. That was cute.
The last episode plot: Seinfeld gets phone call from NBC. He and George meet with NBC executives and they get a tv deal finally! He and George plan to move to Los Angeles. NBC offers them a trip anywhere in the world on the NBC private jet. Seinfeld, George, Elaine and Kramer decide to go to Paris. On the plane, Kramer's wild movements causes trouble on the plane and the gang are scared that the plane will crash and they will die. Unfortunately, the plane lands safely in a small town in Massachusetts. The pilot wants to check out the plane and tells the gang to occupy themselves by sightseeing. The gang take a taxi into town. They walk around and witness a car jacker stealing a car from a fat man. Kramer videotapes the crime and the gang make fat jokes. The policeman arrests the gang because they witnessed the crime and didn't try to help the victim. "Good Samaritan" law like in the Princess Diana case. Citizens are required to help people in distress. The gang goes to jail and to court. They hire the Johnny Cochrane lookalike lawyer -Jackie Chiles. The prosecutor wants to prove that the gang are heartless, cruel, despicable, uncaring, selfish, self-absorbed people. One by one, guests from Seinfeld past episodes tell their bad experiences with Jerry, Elaine, George, Kramer. Elderly woman with the rye bread, virgin, Teri Hatcher, Babu, Soup Nazi, etc are some of the witnesses. Clips from the old episodes are shown as they tell their stories. Yes, the gang seem like bad, bad people. The jury finds them guilty. One year prison sentence. The show ends with Seinfeld wearing an orange prison outfit and doing a standup routine in front of prisoners.
My opinion: It was not special. Not many laugh out loud moments. Recycling funny moments from old episodes. Truly, a show about nothing.
