Just to clarify some different roles Jason has played showing how great an actor he is not just as George. He has been in Pretty Woman, North, and The Coneheads. His Pretty Woman character was completely different from George. this shows his full spectrum as opposed to David Hyde pierce.
"Love, Valor, Compassion" was his biggest stretch in which he played a gay character---definately not George! On second thought, however, the character was still neurotic and insecure.

Without denying Georges considerable acting talents David Hyde Pierce hasalso played some roles very different from Niles.Roles in Little Man Tate,Sleepless in Seattle and Wolf come to mind.He played John Dean in Nixon,how different from Niles can that be?

But the issue is not only what other characters DHP has played it is also.. does he deserve credit for playing Niles over JA who played George. Just looking at those two characters, ''George" had a much wider range of acting requirements by Jason than "Niles" does from David.

I totally agree. David plays Niles to perfection, just like Kelsey has played Frasier to perfection this past decade or so. But award-winning acting is about surprises and new revelations--something Jason has done more often and better than David, or Kelsey has for that matter. And Frasier is my second favorite show. (Just my $ .000000005)
