SEINFELD ETIQUETTE:

Hi Seinfeld fans:
     I was wondering if you ever thought about the etiquette
demonstrated in Seinfeld episodes.
    ...Like, in "The Couch," Elaine tells Jerry that he should have
offered the furniture movers something to drink.  Anyone doing something
that requires them to be in the apartment and is sweating should be
offered a drink.
     Can you think of other advice given from one to another about what
they should do, shouldn't do, or should have done in their situations?
It's usually something I can identify with, as we always wonder when
it's proper etiquette to say or do something.

Everyone but George agreed that you should bring a bottle of wine and perhaps a cake when someone invites you over for dinner. And don't forget the day after thank you when someone gives you tickets. Just a few examples, I know there is more.

Here's another ethiquette tip from Seinfeld:

In last week's (rerun) episode (the one about the mentor), when Jerry and his girlfriend (her name escapes me) are at the restaurant and her mentor walks in (soon to be followed by Banya), as Jerry and mentor are introduced, he does not rise to greet her. Not too cool.

Does *any* man stand up when a woman walks into a room anymore? I thought that tradition had gone the way of the dinosaur.

How about the etiquette mentioned when Jerry recieves a card from his girlfriend and throws it away-a huge discussion ensues about how long a card must be kept after reading it... Or how many time you must go out with a girl after you've slept with her (when Jerry dates the gymnast)...

Here's another etiquette thing: Remember when Elaine was interested in that guy at the club? And he drank from her water bottle without wiping the nozzle clean first and she took that as a sign that he was interested? And he didn't wipe the workout machine for sweat - something she took as another sign, but later turned him in for it? And George peed in the shower?

Here's some more of their own brand of etiquette: (In this case it's a"A Truism): There is always a loser in every group that the other's pick on (for example, Elaine...according to George).

"If there's one person you should be able to hold down, it should be your own flesh and blood...like my father[did to me], and my father's father before him." George

"When a woman makes a ball entrance, she twirls." George

When a woman you're seeing says she "needs to talk with you", it means she's breaking off the relationship. George

If you don't give her a chance to break up before an event, she has to go out on that date with you. George

in tonight's (3/17) syndicated episode (is it called "the psychic"? i don't know) jerry and kramer had a discussion of "coma etiquette" -- specifically how long one had to wait to ask out the girlfriend of a guy in a coma. Kramer said basically everything the guy had was up for grabs in 24 hours -- car, apt, furniture, everything!

One of the most practical was--after sleeping with a date, how long must one wait before breaking off the relationship? Ariosa

What about when Jerry didn't want to make the "thank you call" to Alec Berg after he gave him tickets to a hockey game? Kramer said he should call, so they could maybe get tickets for another game. By the time Jerry actually broke down and made the call, Alec had already given the tickets to someone else. SO ALWAYS -- make the call! ; )
