It's been awhile since I've posted, but--
Remember this quote ("If you're one of us, you'll take a bite"), where George didn't get the job but everyone else at the table got violently ill?
Well, I'm watching the Gary Cooper classic, "Pride of the Yankees," and the exact same thing is said on a train filled with Yankees, including Bay Bruth, and--I kid you not--one of the Yankees takes Babe's latest new hat and takes a bite out of the brim. He then passes it to another Yankee who--you guessed it--takes a bite, and passes it on to another, etc., each taking a bite of Babe's hat. (This whole scene is intended to show how the Yankees are busting the chops of the new kid on the block: Lou Gehrig played by Coop.)
So the hat is finally passed to Gehrig (Coop), who doesn't want to participate. And, yes, one of the Yankees says to him, "If you're one of us, you'll take a bite." (Being prodded, Coop ends up taking two bites and is the one Babe catches in the act. But the teammates hold Ruth back from beating the hell out of Gehrig.)
Well, I thought it was an interesting coincidence to pass along. (Or was it a coincidence? We may learn something on the "Inside Look" for that episode when it comes out on DVD!)
