Puddy.Perfect for Elaine?

I agree. Puddy is the longest lasting boyfrined. He seems to fit in very well with the group. He sexually satisfies Elaine, he fixes Jerry's car, he helps Kramer with plumbing fixtures and George seems to like him. Also, his dry, weird sense of delivery fits in with the others. "Yeah, that's right"

I don't think he is right for Elaine. She's to intelligent for him. It's unrealistic that a smart person would want to be with an idiot. Didn't she get rid of him(face painting) for that very reason? The reason he is on the show is probably due to real life practicality, such as being the only former boyfreind available for a recurring role.

Puddy is terriffic because he is so "nothing." He exemplifies the kind of guy that "smart girls" end up with, and we all know how self-destructive Elaine is. He is better for Elaine than Susan was for George.

I forget what episode, but George asks her to take his IQ for him because she got very high SAT scores and has a high IQ. (This is the episode with Babu right?)

Yes, it's called "The Cafe". She scored 151 on her second try.

Yup, and besides, she was a proofreader for a publishing company,
and she writes copy for a clothing catalog.  These are not generally
considered good jobs for the 'intellectually challenged'.

I'll stick to my original assertions.  Elaine is very smart, except when she
abstains from sex ("The Abstinance"), and proofreading novels is
intellectually challenging work.

Please remember that most editors start as proofreaders. If Elaine's life-long goal was to be a proofreader, I would agree that this would make her seem less intelligent. But it's clear that this is just a stepping stone and she's attempting to move up.

My point was not to downplay how smart editors are or aren't, but to point out that while Elaine is clever, she's not been proven to be a hell of a lot smarter or not than Mr Puddy, whom I happen to think is perfect for her. :)

Elaine's IQ has nothing to do with it. Intelligence quota is only a means of measuring capacity. It has nothing to do with common sense, with savvy or with how said intelligence is applied, or if in fact it is.

And btw, Elaine is not REAL! Only the "characters" on the show refer to her by her nickname, because they interact with her ON THE SHOW intimately. I really wonder about anyone who refers to fictional characters by their nicknames, Lanie = Elaine.

proofreading is lowman on the editing totem. You gotta be smart, no doubt about it, but it ain't editing. not by a long shot.
