can someone tell me if the name vandalay industries first appeared in the keith hernandez episode? i thought george made up this name on the spot, but didn't kramer direct the caller to vandalay's true phone number and address?
i thought it was the name of kramer's friend's condom factory, but seeing that episode (blind date with cynthia), i didn't notice the name vandalay coming up ...

The name was used in an early episode (The Stakeout). George and Jerry are hanging around an office building waiting for a woman Jerry recently met, and George pretends to be someone who works in the building, George Vandalay.

The name was also used in "The Red Dot" when George tries to impress his potential new boss after he asks which authors George has read. George has a tough time coming up with a name, and finally says "Eric(?) Vandalay".

The name is: Art Vandalay, not "George" or "Eric" Vandalay.
And it was first used in "The Stakeout" when Jerry and George are trying to come up with a phony name for the "friend" they are visiting in the building of the lady Jerry wanted to meet.
And yes, it is one of the reoccuring themes that runs through the show.
