Fans discuss the original actors who played Jerry's and George's fathers in early episodes, preferring some of them to the later replacements, with notes on reshoots for syndication.
Does anyone remember the first episode where Jerry's apartment was much smaller and his parents were sleeping on his pull-out sofa? I liked his father very much - he was a great straight-man. They changed fathers right after that, I think. I don't remember if the original Mr. Seinfeld was in more than that one episode.
I sometimes find Jerry's current father more annoying than funny, Does anyone else remember the original father, and would anyone prefer him to the current father?
there was also George's original father.. does anyone remember him?
George's original father appeared in the Handicap Spot episode but they reshot it with Jerry Stiller for syndication. I actual thought that the original version was funnier because it was more spontaneous.
By the way, in that episode, since George is unemployed and can in no way pay for repairs for his father's car, he agrees to become his father's butler, just like the Jerry Pilot story line.
I thought so too. Jerry Stiller is hilarious.

Yes. He was played by John Randolph, known for playing the aging businessman who trades in his body for Rock Hudson's in the 1966 movie "Seconds." Unfortunately, he can no longer be seen as Frank Costanza, because Jerry Stiller has supposedly reshot his scenes for the syndicated version of those episodes.
when it was played in syndication recently in Australia. He was some white haired guy and to tell you the truth, the succeeding father really captures what George's father would really act to make you grow up the way he did. Michael
