Imagine, if you will, the disgust with which Matt Dillon is watching what is transpiring. He will probably rise up in disgust, gripping his walker, and "call out" Newman, who will run for the hills. No, Jerome, you have not even beat "Cheers" which -- although ranked at the bottom of the Neilsen ratings for a while, endeared itself to our hearts and our cultural legacy. Why? Because it didn't try to force some sort of moral down our throats. Remember "Designing Women"? Is that even in re-runs anymore? Was there a 100th episode special? A 200th episode special? Did "Designing Women" ever even reach those plateaus? Did anyone miss that show when it went off, other than the cast members, including that one late addition who never kept her knees together when she wore a dress? No, and it was because it was "in your face" moralism. Norman Learish? You bet! "Seinfeld" is funny and dear and precious because we all live like that! Okay, so maybe it is a bit sarcastically exaggerated, but it's even funnier that way!
So come on, Jerome! Keep the show going! You don't need the money, so do it for free. Well, that's against union regs, so do it for a dollar year. Or donate the money to charity. Better yet, donate the money to ME. I'm a pretty good writer. I've got a killer scene that is just made for George to over-react and make a big deal out of it like he did with the telephone in the Chinese restaurant. In it, I envision him even taking hostages, though what he has hidden under his coat is a can of aerosol freshener which just happened to be handy. It is not a pipe bomb or other explosive weapon. Then he can go back to the nuthouse where that woman he dated is practicing. He might even run into Susan's heretofore -- heretofore, mind you -- unknown identical twin sister. He falls madly in love/hate with her.
If not, well, thank you for eight enjoyable years. Yes, I know you've been on for nine years, but there were a few klunkers in some of the shows, and combined, I figure there is maybe half a season of skits and jokes that didn't make it. But I got through them with the attitude of "Serenity!"
