experiences with DVD-collection

Hi folks!

I'm a huge Seinfeld-fan and as there are no signs, that the official DVD-collection will be realeased very soon, I'm thinking about buying the DVD-collection from [email] (like posted in here: http://groups.google.at/groups?q=seinfeld+dvd&hl=de&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=). So I was wondering, if someone has allready done this and can post here some experiences of this collection. I've downloaded the sample-file and it looks very good to me so if the quality of each episode is at least like the quality of the sample-file, this collection would be worth it. Or does anybody know another collection - probably cheaper?

from what i've seen they are decent quality...

only problem...is the version of the dvds..

from what i've heard customdvd uses FOX caps.... which are syndicated and cut..

read up on the posts of people talking about the cuts on tv...

to keep it short...the version customdvd sells will be missing parts of the show...sometimes KEY parts

Yes, the versions of the show I have on my DVD set are mostly Fox broadcasts. I haven't gone over all 180 DVD eps with a fine tooth comb line by line, but I have seen each ep. at least 4 times since the original broadcast (and some eps many, many, many more times than that) and when I watch my own DVD set, I do not notice much cutting at all. Yet, when I catch a syndication showing on TBS, almost every ep. has at least two or three lines cut.

On that note - if anyone has excellent quality original NBC broadcasts on SP VHS available I'd love to redo the DVD set.

I didn't say there were no cuts in Fox broadcasts, I said there "wasn't much". Certainly not as much as the TBS broadcasts. Entire lines, and in some cases entire scenes or cutaway shots are deleted from a lot of TBS broadcasts I've seen (not to mention the annoying advertising banner that goes across the entire bottom on the screen, or the epilogs sequences when the picture goes into a small box and is surrounded by TBS logos and promos for the next program) .

Purists will care a great deal about the little Fox cuts here and there. I care a great deal about the little Fox cuts here and there. But until this show is officially released on DVD (or I get my hands on good copies of the original broadcasts), this is the best DVD set out there.

the only guy who sold full uncut ones was a guy who used the handle "seinfeldonvcd" or something..

the quality was not as good as fox..however the whole ep is there...

custom...i recommend you watch S8e13-The Comeback... FOX cut out the entire opening scene....

so FOX is just as shady as TBS when it comes to making major cuts...

Actually, there's no shadiness. Syndication cuts are syndication cuts. All synidcated airings of Seinfeld are cut exactly the same way, a FOX affiliate in one city shows the show the exact same way another affiliate in another city. The TBS are separate because they are a cable airing not a true "syndicated" airing. However, they are probably very similar. Contrary to what custom said, the syndicated cuts are quite different than the original broadcasts. Many lines are cuts, entire sequences are cut. Seinfeld is hurt a little more by syndication than other shows because there was no standard opener (often these are cut down considerably in syndication).

Yes, I too would like to know if Paramount plays the full episode before I sign up to it here in the UK. Anyone?
