Arranging episodes

Hi all,

I'm new to this group, and having discovered Seinfeld about a year ago (i.e. two years after the series finished!), have a rather pathetic 30-odd episodes on tape (all recorded SP from digital, so at least what I've got are good quality). Fortunately Paramount and Sky One are showing the episodes in order. However, the episodes I've recorded are catalogued, but strewn throughout about 50 tapes which have other shows on them. So I have to ask - how should I arrange my episodes? Should I capture them all and encode to mpeg-4? Should I write some kind of application which keeps a record?

It's really sad, I know, but that's what being a fanatic is all about. How do you guys keep record of your episodes (or maybe you guys aren't as dumb as me in the first place)?

What I have done is made a database of all my video tapes, as some of the shows I have are on only that show tape, but some are strewn about the place like you. I have for example 14 tapes with cheers, and only about 10 episodes not on those 14 tapes (although they stopped showing the show with 2 seasons to go) but to know where a particular episode is too, you need a database. If you haven't got one already, buy another (cheap) VCR, a scart lead, and edit your epsodes in the order you want them.
