I keep hearing how NBC is saying they will never again show the Puerto Rican Day Parade episode again and i was wondering what the chances are that it will be shown in syndication. This really bugs me, because it is literally the only episode of Seinfeld I haven't seen yet. (I actually saw part of it, but I had to work that night and had to miss large segments of it). It really bugs me that it may never get shown again, because this may forever keep me from having a perfect record. Also, the parts I did catch made me even more curious about the parts I missed.

FWIW, I think Castle Rock sells the eps to syndication for $3 million
each. I don't know much about how Show Biz works, but I can't see them
tossing out a cool $3 mill just to appease the over sensitive
complainers. look for it to appear in syndication after the whole
controversy bullshit blows over.

It was a great episode! And its such a pity that NBC is willing to take cues from the whining minority hell-bent on finding a problem with everything in order to have excuses on which to base their failures.
I agree with you that it is a terrible shame that this episode will never be shown thanks to militant activists who see everything as offensive. It is one of the few Seinfeld episodes I have never seen and I guess I never will since I was busy that night. I disagree with the anti-Puerto Rican attitudes of your message, though. One of my best friends is Puerto Rican and she liked the episode and described it to me in great detail. She is a good story teller and it almost feels like I saw it. Puerto Ricans are not the only cultural group who have puritanical idiots among them with no sense of humor and a desire to censor everything. It seems like every group has such jerks in their midst. And consider this---what would Republicans think if an American flag had been burned rather than a Puerto Rican flag? I can just hear Buchanan, Limbaugh and the whole crew of fat white guys with bad haircuts screaming out in hysterical pain as their favorite piece of cloth went up in smoke.
I agree with your post and the sentiments you make however, please do not insult all us fat white guys with bad haircuts for the actions of a few idiots. Not all of us are right wing crazies.
Thoughtful comment.... Before you dismiss the "few idiots" as "right wing crazies" actually get to know what they stand for. You might listen to Rush's radio show for a couple weeks before judging. Most people who make comments like yours have never bothered to listen to Rush (if you have, I'm sure this applies to others). His comments and opinions are based on thoughtful logic supported by fact.

Oh, Yeah, I have watched his TV show and if those thoughts are 'thoughtful logic' 'supported by fact' . . . this is a sad commentary of the American public... And this has nothing to do with which side of the political spectrum one is on. It has to do with the lowbrow stupidity of his image, arguments and style(?). I'll take a right wing intellectuall over these media clowns any day.
Hey Mike - - - Weren't your comments a bit tongue-in-cheek to begin with?? I got the impression that you were giving a whimsical response from the perspective of someone who is a little offended at the "fat white guys with bad haircuts" comment, not defending or attacking anyone. I think perhaps this guy needs to lighten up a bit. Don't give him the pleasure of an arguement.

I don't know the Puerto Rican population personally so all of my comments simply referred to many (not all) reactions from PRs in the newsgroup and in the media. My comments were not intended to be anti-PR and I did not complain about the PR because they are PR. What I am opposed to are people who fabricate racism and prejudice where there is none. I believe that some Puerto Rican opportunists saw this as an opening to capitalize on awareness of their culture and future gains in congressional money, cultural stature, and future statehood. My comments were not anti-PR. They were anti-a cultural minority trying to invent problems where there were none. The PRs I saw and heard were indeed a "whining minority hell- bent" on causing a political stir. Your friend sounds mature and intelligent. More PRs should look to her as a role model so there aren't evolving stero-types based on a reactionary minority. Mt comment reading "have excuses on which to base their failures" may have been a bit much and more based on past experiences rather than the current situation. I stand by the gist of my comments.
If you only watched his show, you also might try listening to him--the media he was always more comfortable in and I think does a better job in.
Then we're listening to a different guy. His style has been consistent over the years and it's as I describe it. On Rush's old TV show he clipped Clinton at Foster's funeral laughing and joking, then looking up and noticing the camera and instantly changing his demeanor to sadness and wiping false tears. It was hilarious and backed up what Rush had been saying for a week. The example is not the point, rather how Rush presents information and facts.
Huh? You seem to have adopted the view that the leftist-agenda media has portrayed to us. Are you going to criticize him for being overweight like the media since they have little else substantive to touch him on? His image is tarnished by the media, but his arguments are solid, fact-based, and tight. People certainly have the right to disagree with the conclusions he draws. But if one is familiar at all with Rush it is apparent that my points on his presentation and arguments can not be disputed on any real basis. That is the only point I was making after he was attacked on a previous post
