A Final Word to Longtime ATSers

Hi all. Wow, what a night in the newsgroup, huh? A lot of traffic, and as usual a lot of morons and retards. Ahhh, gotta love the Usenet, huh? And I thought it was nice that there was a mixture of AOL Assholes, WebTV Jerkoffs and regular ISP Idiots.

Anyway, as the show's regular run ends, I wanted to say to all the old pals of ATS -- Thanks! I've had a neat time stopping by here a couple of times a week to see what the topics of conversation were. I've argued countless time about my deep and abiding love for Lanie, and I've offered to fight any man who'd deny her to me. (No REAL offers...hahaha.)

It's been a gas, and although the newsgroup will live on, I suspect I won't make it by here as much. I met a lot of groovy people here (I mean the ratio of jerkoffs to nice people isn't too good, but that's the way of the world).

I send you all a happy farewell and godspeed.

The final episode? I laughed and loved seeing the old faces. Quite a few oldtimes showed up so it was a nice trip down memory lane. Loved the clip show, too. Of course you could do 10 hours of clips and still not get all the great ones.

Ah well, it's been a gas. Of course it's just a TV show, folks; we all know that. Don't let the media taint it, or the jerkoffs ruin it. Hey, I'm heading out to the walk the dog, smoke a cigar, kiss the wife. Look up at the stars. I love Texas, after all, and that's where I am tonight, the night Jerry and the folks said goodbye.

But then again, "final" word, "second" word . . . either way, it's still wrong. Very, very wrong.

You could maybe call it a "final paragraph", but that's still not quite right either, is it, because you've actually used more than one paragraph. And, I don't know why, but "final paragraphs" just doesn't sound right.

You could call it a "final thought", but that seems a little misleading as well because you've actually conveyed more than one thought. But using "final thoughts" is quite misleading as well, because, even though you're telling people that these are your "final thoughts", you never really specify how many thoughts there are, which means they can't really be final. Understand?

Now, "final post" . . . now that's the way to go. In making a "final post" people automatically assume that it's going to include your "final word", your "final paragraphs" and your "final thoughts". It's out there. It's done. People are expecting it.

As far as the actually "finality" of your post, well, people probably won't believe you. After all, if you're a regular newsgroup reader it seems that almost every day someone is making what they claim is their "final post" . . . but they usually can't keep their word. They almost always post again, usual continuing the thread about their "final post".

Anyway, don't mind me. I could be wrong. I'm often wrong.
