jerry1.wav

I tried downloading this jerry1.wav but my sound player for Win 3.1 didn't recognize it. I don't think I did anything wrong. I uudecoded it and downloaded, but ??? Has anybody else downloaded this and run it successfully? Thanks.

I also had the same problem with jerry1.wav. I have uudecoded several files before and they all worked, but this one did not.

ESPN is having a viewer-vote awards show called the ESPY's, and one of the awards is something like "best sports personality trying to break into showbiz blahbnlahbnlha". entry 3 is keith hernandez kissing elaine in the car (ooh, can you show that on tv?). "who does this guy think he is?" "i'm keith hernandez!" i nice recognition, up against george foreman on comic relief, marques johnson in white men ..., and something else. just fyi .... -chris

I had the same problem as well: Sound Recorder would load the file fine, but it wouldn't let me play it (the play button was inactive). I'll see if I have any luck with jerry2.wav... John

I now have jerry2.wav. I would like to get it in .au format for my Sun Sparc station. Any ideas? I do have 'sox'.

I also downloaded jerry1.wav. I was able to get it to play, but it sounded terrible. Has anyone had any luck with jerry2.wav?

I had a similar problem. I decoded it to a disk, took it home and tried to play it on WHAM but it sounded wierd and garbled up. I have never had this problem with an other sound file except jackass.wav which sounded the same.

Jerry1.wav is apparently a 16-bit WAV file; the PLAY.EXE that is delivered with the ProAudio Spectrum 16 doesn't handle these correctly.

It _does_ play correctly with the ProAudio drivers for Windows. I'm not sure if the drivers for other sound boards can handle this type of file... if not, it may be worthwhile converting them to 8 bit and re- posting them.

I am the one who posted the .wav files. They were created using Sound Recorder in Windows 3.1. I have a ProAudio Spectrum 16 sound card. They obviously sound good on my system, but I haven't heard from anyone else saying that they got the files to work yet. One suggestion I have is to try to play the sound by going to ControlPanel/DeskTop/Sound in Win3.1 and choosing jerry1.wav or jerry2.wav as one of the system sounds and clicking the Test button.

     I have downloaded jerry1.wav and have only tested using Windows 3.1
     I am using the ProAudio Spectrum 16 also and have found it to work
     alright. I did notice though that when I have it called as the intro
     to windows it kind of cuts off early.
