   I'm really getting tired of reading posts from disgruntled
Seinfeld fans complaining that the show isn't as funny as it
used to be.  That the first few seasons were the funniest and
the show has been going down hill since.
   That's a lot of crap. Think about this.  If you were to run
the shows in reverse starting with this past season and then
the season before that and then the season before that etc.
by the time you get to the fourth season you would be
complaining "what happened to Seinfeld. it used to be so
funny.  The stories used to all have endings, now many of them
are just left hanging.  There used to be all sorts of amazing
sets and the actors all had great things to do, now it's just
a couple of new bland sets each show.  And what's with the
stand-up in the beginning the middle and the end.  Are the
writers getting lazy or are they just running  out of story
ideas?"   There is no question that some shows are funnier
than others but it's a subjective call.

As far as, "Larry David, at least, has a keen sense of when things might be playing themselves out." That's total bullshit. Larry is as proud of this season as any, in fact the hour episode he and Jerry wrote, "The Cadillac "he considers one of the all time best they ever did.

I agree that these complaints are unfounded. IMHO, I find that the series has gotten BETTER, as the characters have developed more. As in any new series, there is always a "shaking out" period, where the actors are trying to "find out" their characters and let them take shape. They've all evolved quite well over time.

[wince] Um, that's a bit over the top, IMHO. There are some really great writers out there doing wonderful work on many sitcoms. Frasier and Friends have had some fantastic episodes that I'd put over some of the worst Seinfeld episodes. Even "Caroline in the City", which I hardly ever watch, had a really great episode last week that I stumbled upon, featuring some very clever, witty writing that would give Seinfeld a run for it's money.

Don't get me wrong, though. I think Seinfeld can be the funniest show at times (again IMHO), but don't you think saying it's "head and shoulders above anything else on television" is a little too much?

I, for one, agree that this season is, far and away, the worst. But I also believe that a sub-par Seinfeld is better than 90% of other sitcoms. And lastly, I think that readers who resent people for posting their honest opinions that contain anything negative about the Seinfeld show are intolerant 'true believers' who don't understand the meaning of the first amendment.
