Jerry's act pre 89-90??

Hey Now

I was just wondering today if anyone had seen Jerry's act before he got going with the show? Was he something big at the time on the comedy circuit, or lucky enough to be picked out of the hat for the show? I remember seeing a gig of his on some "tell all video show" like "real video" or something like that. It musta been shot in 82! Jerry had a afro, and a really Velveeta suit. =) Needless to say it wasn't to hot. And, while were on the subject, do you find the bit's that Jerry does on the show to be funny? I don't. Granted that's really not the purpose of them. That's to prelude what's to come. I've probably laughed once during one of his gig shots. Any thoughts?

I saw Jerry in a small club in St. Louis ("The Funnybone") sometime in '84 or '85. He was actually very good. I saw him again in '91 in a large theater, and I remember him talking about his TV show (which was still fairly new) and how it was doing "okay" in most places, but for some reason it appeared to be doing exceptionally well in the St. Louis market. I missed most of the 1st season, but since became a big fan. And I don't think Jerry was just lucky...he's just good. I find it odd that you like the show, but don't like the "bits" that Jerry does at the start and end of the show. Anyone ever notice that there used to be lots more of that in the very early shows...like right in the middle of the show?

BTW, I agree with those that feel that you couldn't very well remove ANY of the main 4 characters from the show. It's too well balanced. Even some of the "side" characters would be missed.

Who doesn't like the "bits" that Jerry does? I'm new to this news group, so maybe I missed on that subject, but I never heard anyone complain about it. You are right. Jerry did the "bits" in the middle of the show. I love the "bits", but I've heard Jerry won't be doing it for the new season. Oh, well...

(laugh) I think so. They were alone in his apartment and were very much in love.
