Fans recall and quote Jerry's monologue from The Visa about birthdays being reminders of stagnation and existential despair.

That'd be "The Visa." He was trying to not be funny, so he took on this downer attitude. I think he said something about how birthdays are just reminders of how little we've grown, and each flicker of the candle reminds of how it's not to be (us getting better).
