Up to 40 posts in one 24 hour period is an impressive tribute for a show that has been off the prime time schedule for over a year.
And the efforts of devoted fans who create and maintain the Episode Guides, FAQ site(s), sites with Seinfeld sounds, scripts, discussions, news and pix suggest a parallel to me of the dedicated religious monks of ancient times who devoted their lives, sitting by candle light, transcribing the words of the Bible.
The 85,000 (plus) Seinfeld Internet web sites contain enough storage space to record the entire Library of Congress and all the names, telephone numbers, addresses, and ratings of all the entries in President Clinton's "little black book."
The minute details discussed at length in this n.g. (What song was Jerry humming in episode . . .?) or the exposure of seeming inconsistancies (When Krammer came in, the door to Jerry's apartment was *open*, but in the next scene, the door was *closed* !) are on a par with serious religious debates over issues of dogma (if God can do anything, can He create a rock so heavy that He can't lift it?).
In a world where the problems of hunger, disease, and poverty still exist, did anyone make a big fuss when, for the past 2 years, the public paid over $200 million annually to a person who made us laugh?
What I'm trying to say is: Jerry, Julia, Michael and Jason - we miss you and the characters you played and the enjoyment you brought into our lives. For one brief, shining moment, you had an impact on the world and the world has changed (a little) since you've gone.
