No spin-offs, but what about this?

I have heard that everybody in the cast is opposed to a spin-off, but what if a cast member joined an existing show that was of high quality?

My idea is for Julia Louis Drefus to join the cast of Just Shoot Me as Elaine. The show takes place in a Cosmo-type magazine, and Elaine has worked in publishing in the show, so it is plausible. NBC is planning to move that show to Thursdays and promote it heavily and it is a good show with smart writing.

Can't you see the selfish and shallow Elaine fighting with the goody two shoes Maya? And trading barbs with David Spade's character every show? Wendy Malick's character would be a great friend for Elaine, with many fights along the way over guys of course. And the Photographer would of course put the moves on her, leading to some sarcastic put downs on both sides.

Well, there are rumors going around that JLD will make a guest appearance on Just Shoot Me. But I don't know if its going to be as Elaine, herself, or another character.

Not likely. I think that everyone on the cast (and basically the decision is Jerry's) and the producers want to let these characters go for good.

Also in today's Parade it said that Julia wants to take a few years off to be with her kids.

But it is highly likely that any one of the cast members could show up as guest stars, playing other characters, on other sitcoms. Particularly if the producer and/or star is a good friend of the guest star in question. For example, John Goodman guested on Soul Man because he and Dan Aykroyd are buds.

I love the show too, but I think we got to let it go. Besides, we'll always have reruns!
