Last Episode...soooo sad!

I know NBC wanted to make the last episode of last season end on a note that would entice people to watch the new seascon, but why make it so sad?

(in case anyone doesn't remember, it's the one with the "Summer of George" when George slips on a glossy invitation and paralyzes himself)

I can't believe the rest of the guys reacted with, "Wanna get a cuppa
coffee?" Were they just kidding or is George really paralyzed?

Well, the gang are not normally known for their compassion and tender feelings toward each other or anyone, really. And obviously the "Wanna geta cuppa coffee?" scene was a blatant reference to the previous season-ender when they found out Susan was dead. George's injuries due to invitations also provide an extra dose of irony. Obviously George wasn't completely paralyzed since he was able to make an attempt at walking at the end of the episode. It will be interesting to see if they do anything with it in the new season or just pretend it never happened.

Furthermore, the doctor who gave George his prognosis is played by the same actor who informed George of Susan's demise. Did you expect sensitivity and compassion from the crew? This ending was supposed to be over the top in emphasizing their worst traits and succeeded in spades.
