Continuity error in "The Race"?

I've just watched "The Race" on the Paramount comedy channel in the UK, and I'm confused.

Jerry's latest girlfriend Lois sits down in Jerry's car and says that her boss, Duncan, who once lost a race to Jerry when they were in high school, will fire her if Jerry doesn't race against him.....but Jerry had already agreed to race him, when they were all sitting in Monk's, after George pretends to see Jerry for the first time in 20 years.

Was something cut out of the syndicated version? Or did I just miss something?

Yes but then when Jerry was called by Duncan suggesting tomorrow 4pm, Jerry said something along the lines of "tomorrow 4pm, no! Why? Because I choose not to run!". One assumes this meant that Jerry wasn't willing to run at all prompting Duncan to threaten Lois with the sack.
