Jerry's sister?

I just watched the Chinese restaurant episode in syndication, and Jerry refers to having a sister who would be gossiping with the rest of his family about his having gone to the restaurant instead of to his uncle's house. I don't remember other references to Jerry having sibs.

TV Jerry is an only child, just as George is. The mention of siblings is purely continuity error. The only character who is not an only child is Elaine, who has a sister living in St. Louis.

In real life, however, three of the four actors have siblings:

Jerry has a sister Carolyn.

Julia has several half-sisters...two or three on each side of the family (her parents divorced when she was one and each remarried when she was in preschool.).

Jason has a half-brother Michael, now aged 57, and a half-sister Karen, now aged 50. (Michael and Karen have the same parents. Their mother died about a year before Jason was born. Their father remarried rather quickly and Jason was born in 1959, when Michael was 19 and Karen was 12.) Karen lives in Houston and has a grown son, Keith, now in his 20s.

Michael is an only child, raised solely by his mother (his father died when he was very young).

     You're right...Jerry does mention a sister in the show,
has alluded to her several times over the course of the
show, and has a sister Carolyn in real life although her TV
equivalent remains unseen and unnamed. (He's very
close to his family and has an affectionate acknowledge-
ment for both his mother and his sister in his 1992 book,
so we'll have to assume Carolyn doesn't have a TV
equivalent because she wants her privacy respected...
as far as I know she's never been interviewed and has
nothing to do with show business. And Jerry's mother
never became the kind of celebrity David Letterman's
mom did...by her own choice.)
     George's brother is mentioned a couple of times
in the series, but he, too, remains unseen and unnamed.
Could be a possible new story arc if there's a 1998-99
season...
