There has been talk in this group in the past about inconsistencies on the show. I wonder if this counts as one? When Kramer was explaining to Newman about the deposit notes on the bottles, Newman looked at the bottle and said something like, "MI 10 cents. What's that?" Excuse me, but Newman is a mailman. He would have to know that "MI" is Michigan.

You have to remember, Newman is the **brightest** person on earth. With a 10 next to it, he probably just had no idea what it meant. Plus, just because he is a mailman doesn't mean he'll remember all the state abbreviations. My guess is that he is supposed to, but probably doesn't.

As far as I remember, Newman never said anything about michigan. Kramer told him that he should recycle, and he said "I don't want to pay 5 cents to recycle the bottle" (something like that). Krammer then said that they pay you 5 cents per can, and pointed it out to him, and that's when Kramer said that they give you 10 cents in Michigan. I might have this confused, but who knows. rock on; joshman

As a letter carrier, I can say that there is no requirement for us to know these.... clerks and machines sort the mail. Sometimes I wonder if THEY know the abbreviations....

Yes, especially since he knew the other states listed by abbreviation on the can.
