The following is an unsolicited review of the J. Peterman, no, I mean Kramer's Reality Tour of NYC:
Yesterday I had the opportunity of visiting the sights behind the show, by taking Kramer's tour for the third time. I am pleased to report that the show is still very funny and fresh.
The tour starts out with a session of standup and rare video footage that alone is worth the price. There is some awesome storytelling, and, believe me, it took a lot of bizarre stories to get "Seinfeld" off the ground, and keep it up where it is.
The tour itself visits many of the points of interest from the show, and we get recall the shock we experienced when we first heard some of these lines. Kenny goes through which items are myths, which have true stories etc. After a visit to "The Diner", you get to hear Kenny's own trials with the Soup Rat Bastard. The tour goes by really quickly, because even when there aren't any sights, there are plenty of stories, and some funny videos which are shown on the screens right on the bus. A far cry from the Peterman tour school bus.
The tour concludes at the Cafe St. Francis, where you are treated to lunch, Kramer style, without having to listen to Poppie argue "Itsa pizza the minute you putta you fist in the dough". They have some of the best Seinfeld merchandise for sale that I've seen yet, including a George T-shirt that's absolutely sick, an episode guide from Australia that's remarkably complete and entertaining, a number of books, hats, etc, and, a favorite, Vandelay Industries bumper stickers.
The tour is very personal and relaxed. You find yourself interacting with Kenny, and your fellow passengers, which in the case yesterday, were from all corners of the globe.
I just have to invite some more out of town friends to visit, so I have an excuse to take the tour again!
