George Italian(?!)

      Dear Andrea,
         I think it is possible that they ( at least through the
father) be Italian and Jewish! There was a small number of them (
including a wealthy mistress of Mussilini)  before WWII and most of
them were descended from the Sephardic Jews who had spent 1400 years
in Spain before the Inquisition of 1492 ( I have some of them for
ancestors)! After 1492, they immigrated all over the Mediterreanean
and had communities form Morroco to Yemen and all points in between
( including Jerusalem!) ! Since WWII most of them have immigrated to
Isreal and few now speak the Ladino language( which was largely 15th
century Castillian Spanish) since all Jews are encouraged to speak
Hebrew in Israel( which makes me wonder how the Ethopian Jews
Amaharic will do) !  In any case, I think it's likely they are
Italian Jews from the Sephardic communites!   Just my opinion!
